What makes us special?

The location

Built in 1880, Summerhill Bed & Breakfast, Sedbergh has been lovingly renovated by Steve and Ali Bramall, providing a lovely home with a mixture of period features and contemporary decor. It's in a fabulous position at the foot of the Howgill Fells - across the road is Sedbergh School; the centre of the town is a two minute walk and Sedbergh Golf course is a short drive away.

Dating back to 1880, the family-run Summerhill B&B has free Wi-Fi and offers breakfasts prepared using locally sourced produce and free-range eggs. Combining period features and contemporary dĂ©cor, the rooms include tea and coffee making facilities with fresh milk and Egyptian cotton bed linen.

The en-suite or private external bathrooms have bathrobes and local Bath House toiletries. Upon arrival, homemade cakes are available. For breakfast, Summerhill serves homemade granola and bread, with locally produced bacon and sausages. Vegetarian options are also available (Steve is vegetarian).

During the summer months, guests can enjoy fruit salad with raspberries from the garden. At the foot of the Howgill Fells, Summerhill Sedbergh is in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Sedbergh Golf Club is just 6 minutes’ drive away.

The property does not have a TV available for guests. It is definately a place to enjoy the location rather than watching screens. Breakfast I like to pull out all the stops for breakfast. The Granola and bread are homemade, and a big hit on the customer satisfaction stakes - it has turned many to rejecting the mass produced versions for good. There is always a fruit salad and in summer there are raspberries from the garden. I like to put the granola in a bowl with fresh fruit and ladle yogurt on top. Our rhubarb grows in profusion, so it makes an appearance as jam or freshly stewed. I use eggs from the farm up the road, which taste wonderful. The bacon and sausages are produced locally but I haven't yet got into growing our own mushrooms.

For anyone going up a hill after breakfast, I like to slip in some slow-cook We enjoy giving you a memorable experience as guests in our home. There are always some homemade cakes or scones when you arrive and depending on the weather, you can eat them outside in the  garden  or in the sitting room .  If you are Vegetarian, you're in good company, as Steve is too. Just let me know if you want to avoid a particular type of food.
